Documenting Supernatural

Jeff Maynard transferred digital photos to slides and then filmed the slideshow.

I had the great experience of producing over 60 documentaries for Supernatural. We explored the wonderful characters, story arcs, mythology, and fan base throughout the seasons. When it came time for the final 15th season, it was an obvious decision that we needed to give the show a fitting farewell tribute. We did this through our two documentaries, The End of the Road and Family Don’t End With Blood. Even with the restrictions we all had to work under through the pandemic, the support we received from the cast and crew to help us tell our stories was, as always, outstanding. And for our team at Amity Pictures, production on both docs took us on an emotional journey of our own through the history of Supernatural. We will all truly miss working on this incredible series.

The Kansas Connection

Jeff Maynard in Kansas

One of the pieces we produced for Season 15 is The Winchester Mythology: Midwestern Heroes. As someone born and raised in Kansas, and who lived in the Winchester’s hometown of Lawrence for two years, this piece was very personal for me. I could always relate to the midwestern sensibilities of Sam and Dean and their friends. So, that documentary is, in a way, a love letter to the world they came from.
